The outback is famous for its stunning terrain, the Big Red Rock, and some of the most amazing stargazing down under. Did you know it’s also home to a unique epicurean adventure called the Tali Wiru dinner? During one of my trips to Australia, I was fortunate enough to enjoy this unique dining experience under the stars and it is now one of my favorite experiences down under!
Ayers Rock/Uluru glows red and purple in the sunset
Before sunset, my husband and I were picked up from our hotel and whisked off, away from the crowds, to a private area in the middle of the outback, surrounded by brick-red sand with the famous Ayers Rock glowing purple in the background. We sipped champagne and enjoyed some canapés while listening to the didgeridoo. The golden hour in the outback is truly breathtaking!

The views were unbelievable!
After cocktail hour, we walked to a private platform with only 4 other tables that evening. Talk about VIP! We enjoyed a 4-course Tali Wiru dinner with matching wine pairings and an incredible star talk about the Southern Hemisphere. I will always remember trying kangaroo for the first time under a sky so clear, I could see the entire Milky Way with my naked eye!
This special dinner was shared with just 4 other tables
The night capped off with hot cocoa around the campfire, listening to captivating Aboriginal stories. This experience felt exclusive, authentic, and so special! The night also includes access to the light installation Field of Light, where hundreds of thousands of lights illuminate the field at the base of Ayers Rock. If you’d like to up the wow-factor even further, you can even arrive to dinner via a helicopter over Ayers Rock!
