Exotic Island Vacations: Bora Bora Overwater Bungalows

Discover the beauty, luxury, and culture of the Islands of Tahiti. Stay at 3 luxury resorts and unwind in a Bora Bora overwater bungalow.

This Exotic Island Vacations: Bora Bora Overwater Bungalows vacation was created for a couple who wanted to celebrate their retirement with a luxurious, relaxing getaway in French Polynesia. We sent them to 3 of our favorite InterContinental properties on 3 different islands to get the full French Polynesian experience, and finished off their stay with a few nights in an overwater bungalow.

They began their Exotic Island Vacations: Bora Bora Overwater Bungalows vacation on the island of Tahiti. They took some time here to unwind after their flight with a massage treatment and relax in their tropical courtyard with a private plunge pool. This was the perfect way to get into vacation mode before moving on to other islands.

The next day, they took the ferry to the island of Moorea and transferred to their luxurious bungalow at InterContinental Moorea. They spent 4 nights here and had a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure at their own pace. Ideal for nature lovers, the InterContinental Moorea is nestled in a tranquil cove, with jagged volcanic peaks behind and the great expanse of the South Pacific in front. They spent their days lounging on the beach, enjoying delicious meals at the resort, and exploring the incredible landscapes of the island with its many waterfalls and scenic hikes. They also visited the Turtle Care Center at the resort to see sea turtles and learn about marine life conservation.

Continuing their Exotic Island Vacations: Bora Bora Overwater Bungalows package, they flew to neighboring Bora Bora. They stayed at the Intercontinental Bora Bora in an incredible overwater bungalow—a true highlight of their special retirement vacation. They felt like royalty in their modern and luxurious bungalow with immediate access to the lagoon’s impossibly blue waters. For their last few days, they simply unwound, soaked up their beautiful surroundings, and enjoyed their quality time together.

At last, it was time to say goodbye to their island paradise. They took a short flight back to Papeete and began their journey home feeling blissfully relaxed and recharged.
