Wellington and Surrounds

Wellington, once named the “coolest little capital” in the world by Lonely Planet, is a compact urban oasis. Surrounded by a stunning corkscrew bay, the city is the embarkation point for the ferry to the South Island. Stay in town for fine dining, theater, and hikes to Lord of the Rings sites in the hills above town.

Wellington and Surrounds is filled with stunning art, culinary experiences, wildlife and trails. If you want to experience a culinary adventure, take a food tour. Looking to experience some art? Take in Te Papa, one of the world’s great museums. Zealandia is a great option to view wildlife in a sanctuary setting and witness what life was like on the island before human contact. See exotic and endangered birds in the wild on the Kapiti Island Bird Sanctuary. Visit Martinborough on the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail or order a flat white from one of the many cafes around Wellington.
