South Africa Safari

Hello everyone, English Marie here.  Are you looking into a South Africa Safari Vacation?  Deciding on a South Africa Safari destination can be a daunting task. There are so many lodges and parks to choose from in South Africa! Because of the multitude of places, we’ve narrowed it down to our top 3 South Africa Safari destinations.

Kruger National Park - leopard drinking Kruger National Park - LBC Pool area

Kruger National Park and Surrounds
Comprise of almost five million acres, Kruger is South Africa’s largest park and one of the most famous safari destinations in the world. It offers visitors a chance to see Africa’s Big Five and is home to a huge heard of elephants, as well as the endangered African Wild Dog. With over 507 species, it is also an excellent bird-watching destination. Kruger, and its adjacent private reserves are really ideal for a first time visitor and a safari enthusiast. Since the animals have been protected for so long, they have no fear of humans (or vehicles) so it allows one to get VERY close up and personal.

Phinda - Main Lodge Waterhole Phinda - Wild Dog

Phinda
While not as famous as its northern sister, Phinda Private Game Reserve is still an excellent destination. Located in the KwaZulu-Natal region, it has remarkable diving and a World Heritage site nearby, providing a fantastic beach and bush safari experience. Phinda is a great destination for big cat viewing, with cheetahs being the most prominent. An encounter with the world’s fastest land animal is almost certain since they are spotted daily on the reserve. Phinda also offers the chance to view both the rare black and white rhino, which were on the brink of extinction at one point.

Madikwe - Game Drive Madikwe - Elephants
Madikwe
Currently the fifth largest game reserve, and one of the lesser-known parks in South Africa, Madikwe is a hidden gem. It is regarded as one of the best conservation areas in Africa- boasting 680 km squared. Amongst the wonders of Madikwe, you’ll also find a number of luxurious lodges in a malaria-free zone. At Madikwe you’ll likely spot the Big 5, as well as the rare privilege of seeing the endangered African Wild Dog. In 1994 a small group of wild dogs were introduced to the park, after some major struggles these dogs currently are thriving within Madikwe.
