What to pack?
Casual, informal clothes like golf shirts or T-shirts, shorts and slacks for men. For women, lightweight summer dresses, skirts blouses are ideal. Sarongs are worn by both men and women, and flip flop shoes.

830,000 people with a mixture of Fijians, Indians, Europeans and Chinese. Of these, 52.8% are Fijian, 40.3% Indian and 6.9% other races.
Entry Requirements

Language
English is the official language; Fijian and Hindustani.
Customs
There are regulations and concessions covering personal effects, prohibited goods, alcohol, tobacco, sporting equipment and other goods being brought into Fiji. Please be advised that Fiji imposes severe penalties on those found carrying narcotics and other controlled substances.
Vaccinations
If you are traveling from the United States or Canada directly into Fiji, no vaccinations are required. If you plan to make a stopover enroute to Fiji, please check the requirements with the nearest Fijian Consulate or Embassy. Yellow Fever and Cholera if needed if originating from an infected area designated by W.H.O.

Banking hours generally are from 9:30am – 3:00pm Monday through Thursday; 9.30am-4.00pm Friday. ATM’s are widely available and accept all major debit cards. If you are unsure you can use your debit card overseas, please contact your bank.
Religion
Fiji is a truly multicultural nation; Christian churches, Mosques, Sikh and Hindu temples are available. The majority of Fijians are Wesleyan persuasion, but all other Christian denominations are evident. Please be aware that when visiting towns and local communities, it is a sign of respect to be appropriately attired. Please check with your hotel concierge.
Tipping
Tipping is NOT encouraged in Fiji and is often frowned upon. Please respect the local culture. Resorts often offer a staff Christmas ‘fund’ which you can contribute to if available and tips are shared. You can enquire upon guest registration at each resort.
Voltage
The electrical current in Fiji is 240 volts, AC 50Hz. The Fijian has a three?]pin power outlet and is different from some other countries so you may need an adaptor. If you are traveling from the North America where appliances are 110V, you will need a voltage converter and an adaptor. Universal outlets for 240V or 110V shavers are usually found in leading hotels (hairdryers are generally provided; please consult with your travel agent).
Food
There are four main cuisine influences in Fijian cuisine: Continental, Indian, native Fijian and Asian. Island Nights at hotels and resorts feature local Fijian cuisine. Food is cooked in an earth oven, wrapped in banana leaves and is served buffet style. Traditional Fijian song and dance often accompany these nights.
Health Services
Doctor’s dentists and hospitals have modern equipment, highly trained staff and extensive facilities. Visitor’s health care costs are not covered by the Fijian Health Scheme. For this reason insurance is strongly recommended (please speak with your travel consultant).
Departure Tax
Before departing from Fiji, every person over the age of 12 must pay a departure tax. This $20 tax is tobe paid locally in Fijian currency following check-in procedures.
VAT Tax
There is a 10% VAT tax on all items & services in Fiji.
