Cook Islands Beach Vacation: Rarotonga and Aitutaki
We designed this Cook Islands Beach Vacation for a couple from Boston who wanted a quick winter getaway on the beach. They wanted a remote and laid back island destination, so we sent them to the beautiful Cook Islands for 7 nights of tropical bliss.
The Cook Islands are considered the hidden gem of the South Pacific. Made up of small atolls and sparkling blue lagoons, they’re a beach lover’s paradise. Our clients began their Cook Islands Beach Vacation at the luxurious Te Vakaroa Villas. Set right on Muri Beach, Te Vakaroa Villas is a remarkable gated haven, offering unsurpassed views of the Muri Lagoon and beyond the reef to the South Pacific Ocean. They loved their bright, spacious villa and the spectacular view of the ocean from their floor-to-ceiling sliding doors.
During their 3 nights at Te Vakaroa Villas, they enjoyed plenty of water-based adventures in the Muri Lagoon, including swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. They rented a scooter one day to meander along the back roads, surrounded by stunning tropical foliage. They also decided to visit a local village and enjoy a delicious, authentic dinner with some of the local families.
Next for their Cook Islands Beach Vacation, we flew them to the neighboring island of Aitutaki. The Cooks’ second most popular island feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our clients certainly enjoyed slipping into “island time” at the delightful Pacific Resort Aitutaki. They rented some bicycles to explore the island’s beautiful scenery and hidden beaches, but also had plenty of time to relax by the pool and simply soak up the tranquility of the resort.
This Cook Islands Beach Vacation was the perfect escape from the winter blues—although they both agreed that a week was too short, and they simply had to return someday!

Day 1
Welcome to the idyllic Cook Islands! Fly to the island of Rarotonga, where you’ll receive a meet and greet at the airport and a transfer to Te Vakaroa Villas. Leave the real world behind and immerse yourself in a tropical island oasis surrounded by the unspoiled beauty of Rarotonga. Your luxurious villa is just steps away from the world-renowned Muri Lagoon.
Te Vakaroa Villas
Day 2 – 3
Enjoy romance and adventure in your tropical paradise. Muri Lagoon is a water playground for snorkeling, kayaking, kite surfing and swimming. Kayaks and snorkeling equipment are complimentary for those who want to pull themselves away from their luxurious villa to explore the attractions of the lagoon. We also recommend taking a fabulous vaka (boat) cruise, visiting a local village, or taking a 4WD adventure around the island. For a more leisurely afternoon, lounge in the infinity pool with incredible views of the South Pacific Ocean. Daily tropical breakfasts will be served in your villa, and you can enjoy romantic dining options at Sails restaurant, poolside, or in the privacy of your room.

Day 4 – 5
Fly to the neighboring island of Aitutaki and make your way to Pacific Resort Aitutaki—a small, 5-star resort situated directly on the white sand beach framing Aitutaki’s luminescent lagoon.
