New Zealand Wine Vacations: Unique Food and Wine

Taste the delicious flavors of New Zealand with this unique vacation. Visit famous wine regions and sample the very best New Zealand has to offer.

This special New Zealand Wine Vacations: Unique Food and Wine itinerary was created for a couple from Chicago who wanted to experience the Wine Trail in New Zealand, but wanted a personal, unique vacation. We sent them to the major wine regions of New Zealand and arranged the very best wine tasting tours in each area.

Their New Zealand Wine Vacations: Unique Food and Wine tour began in Napier, the heart of Hawke’s Bay. Hawke’s Bay is well regarded as the “food bowl” of New Zealand. Here, they took a luxury wine tasting tour to premium vineyards and enjoyed a scrumptious lunch with local wines and a “Taste of Hawke’s Bay” tasting platter. They also took a walking tour to discover Napier’s art deco architecture.

Next for their New Zealand Wine Vacations: Unique Food and Wine tour, they moved on to Wellington. This small city is filled with local flavors. Known as the “Coolest Little Capital in the World,” it features fabulous farm-to-table food and a vibrant art and culture scene. From Wellington, they took a short train ride to lovely Martinborough, a wine region that’s small in size but not in reputation, for a small-group wine tasting tour.

Next, they traveled to Bay of Many Coves, a luxurious beachside retreat where they were treated to scrumptious gourmet dinners paired with Marlborough sauvignon blancs. During their free day, they went to Blenheim to visit iconic wineries like Cloudy Bay. Then, it was on to Queenstown. They had some free time to enjoy the adventure capital of New Zealand, and also took a wine tour of the Otago Peninsula, known for its up-and-coming pinot noirs.

After sampling the incredible flavors of New Zealand, their New Zealand Wine Vacations: Unique Food and Wine tour came to an end. A private driver took them to the airport to begin their journey home.
