Itinerary

Day 1

Board your vessel this evening in the pearling port of Broome, Western Australia. Cocktail reception and dinner is served. Overnight cruise.

Day 2

Awake in the majestic Kimberley. The crew offer exceptional insight to the history and cultural significance of this region. Highlights today include the Horizontal Falls, optional helicopter flights over the falls. Leisurely evening meal is served as you cruise to Raft Point.

Day 3

Explore No Name Creek and Ruby Falls. After lunch your guide will take you to the well-preserved Wandjina paintings of Raft Point. Wandjina figures are some of the most visually striking images in Kimberley art. The people of the Kimberley say the Wandjina are the creator beings of the Dreaming, whom made their world and all that it contains. They are found in many rock art sites in caves and rock shelters throughout the Kimberley.

Day 4

This morning is devoted to exploring the Sale River. Fish the mouth for barramundi or join naturalists and adventurers alike and embark on a classic river expedition! Afternoon, explore Montgomery Reef. Water cascades from the reef as the tide rapidly falls. Possible sightings include turtles, dugongs and manta rays.

Day 5

Explore the ruins of Camden Harbour – the site of a failed 1865 attempt to settle the Kimberley. Volunteer for the ‘oyster collecting party’ before joining the ‘fun and games’ on Entrance Island! Sunset cocktails on the beach and evening cruise to the mighty Prince Regent River!

Day 6

Cruise up to the falls at Kings Cascades, enjoy a gourmet picnic alongside a crystal clear billabong. Evening Captain’s Party and an overnight anchorage off Camp Creek.

Day 7

Take a heli flight with a difference – a ‘champagne sunrise’ on the top of a mountain (extra). Enjoy a hike to swim in a picture perfect billabong! Afternoon visit to the Kimberley’s most historic sites – Phillip Parker King’s boab tree.

Day 8

Board your helicopter for your transfer ashore. Fly over a stunning river system that is lined with dense mangrove forests, surrounded by rainforest encrusted mountains and spectacular Mitchell Falls. Board your light aircraft transfer to Kununurra. Here your local crew from Elquestro Homestead will be waiting for you. Accommodation is 3 nights at Elquestro Homestead.

Day 9

At leisure. Regional highlights include four major national parks, gorges, waterfalls, caves and rainforests. Of special note is the Bungle Bungles of the Purnululu National Park: thousands of beehive shaped, mountain-sized mounds feature red, orange and black stripes and are best seen by a helicopter or fixed wing flight. Optional touring: Thermal springs; bushtucker and El Questro history tour; Chamberlain Gorge cruise and rock art tour; horse riding; Emma Dreaming Trail; 4WD tours by rangers and wildlife spotting tours.

Day 10

At leisure.

Day 11

Transfer to Kununurra airport is included today as you continue on your journey through the South Pacific.
