Code: FW04 Pricing: Starting from $6,399 Description: Explore the fabulous flavors of New Zealand. Awaken your senses and indulge in culinary delights as you discover the hidden beauty of New Zealand’s back roads. Itinerary Day 1 Depart Los Angeles for Auckland, New Zealand. Day 2 Day ‘lost’ crossing international dateline. This will be gained upon return. Day 3 Arrive into Auckland. Transfer to the city for an overnight stay. Afternoon private sightseeing tour. Evening at leisure to explore the many exciting Restaurants in the Viaduct, only minutes walk from your Hotel. Perhaps enjoy Dinner at “Whites” – the signature Restaurant of the Hilton Hotel. Day 4 Transfer to the ferry terminal (2 minute taxi ride or a 5 minute walk – taxi not included). Enjoy a 35 minute cruise on the Waitemata Harbour then past the islands of the Hauraki Gulf to Waiheke Island. On arrival met and transferred to your glorious accommodations. 2 night stay – fabulous views overlooking Oneroa beach and breakfast included daily. Day 5 Half day private tour of Waiheke with guide visiting many of the boutique wineries, Olive Oil producers and a private brewery. Afternoon at leisure. Suggestions include: explore the beaches or hire a bike, motor scooter or car. Day 6 Today you fly to Napier. Collect your rental car form the airport depot and enjoy a scenic drive to your accommodations. The afternoon to explore the Art Deco area of Napier. Day 7 Full day tour with local guide visiting wineries in Napier, Hastings and Havelock North – meet the personalities involved in the wine industry here and also taste some local specialist foods. A picnic lunch is included. This evening you are joined at the lodge by a local Winemaker who will be your guests this evening for a “Winemakers Dinner”. Day 8 Today you will head south at your leisure to the acclaimed wine district of Martinborough. Visit the Wine Centre in the heart of the village and explore local wineries. Your accommodations this evening is in a historic hotel, perfectly restored and oozing with sophisticated charm. Day 9 A two-hour drive takes you to the capital city of Wellington. We have arranged a “ZEST Experience” for an afternoon exploring the culinary treasures of this city. Meet the chefs and indulge in a 5-course tasting lunch including some of New Zealand’s icon foods. Day 10 A short flight brings you to Blenheim on the South Island. On arrival met at the airport by your guide who will take you on a Gourmet food and wine tour of the region. Learn about matching wine and food, enjoy private tours of the wineries and meet with the Winemakers. Lunch is included. After the tour you will be taken to collect your rental car. Your accommodation is in a cottage on a vineyard with breakfast included. Suggestion: let us make a dinner reservation at Herzog’s acclaimed restaurant. Day 11 Drive via the east coast of Kaikoura – excellent winery here – then travel further south to Waipara – home of many north Canterbury wineries. Overnight in Christchurch. Suggested touring: whale watching in Kaikoura, scenic jet flight; private dining experience via helicopter; Dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Christchurch (reservations are a must). Day 12 Morning at leisure. Suggested touring: Hot air Balloon flight, mountain biking, French city of Arkaroa. Afternoon flight to Queenstown. Suggested drive: Time permitting we recommend a drive to Bannockburn, home of some excellent wineries including Mt Difficulty and Felton Road (some of our favorites). Suggested touring: Jet boating experience. Day 13 Day at leisure to explore the many wineries here including Gibbston Valley. There are a huge variety of restaurants in Queenstown and Arrowtown -well worth sampling! Other Suggested touring: 4WD back country tour; picnic on a deserted beach; helicopter wildlife tour to Stewart Island. Day 14 Enjoy a 3-hour excursion by Helicopter to the spectacular Milford Sound. Fly over the Fiords and land on a glacier. Celebrate your tour of NZ with a glass of Champagne and cheese while marveling at the scenery. Day 15 Return your car to the airport and connect with onward flight home. Arrive into Los Angeles the same day with plenty of time for connection flights to other cities. |
