Dates: Auckland to Bay of Islands (itinerary also operates in reverse)

Description: a 5-day exploration of the temperate and less traveled region of New Zealand, the Bay of Islands. Visits to scientific reserves, Historic cultural landmarks, observe rare native wildlife and enjoy guided walks with naturalists.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Auckland

Meet and Greet by our local representative. Transfer to hotel in AUckland. Acc: 2 nights Auckland. Day is at leisure.

Day 2: Auckland

Day at leisure to enjoy Auckland.
Auckland - Tiri Matangi Island - Kawau Island
Board your vessel, depart the City of Sails and enjoy the view of the city and the Hauraki Gulf as we cruise to Tiri Tiri, one of only 2 Scientific Reserves in New Zealand. Embark on a guided walk to discover rare native flora and fauna. Cruise to historic Kawau Island, enjoy Captain’s Welcome Cocktails.

Day 2: Great Barrier Island

Cruise into beautiful Port Fitzroy through the narrow Man-O-War Passage. Guided walk through the native bush, discover the history of the mining and Kauri logging industry.

Day 3: Mokohinau & Poor Knights Islands

Visit the remote nature reserve of the Mokohinau Islands. This afternoon we sail to the Poor Knights Islands to witness the dramatic scenery and nature on offer.

Day 4: Whangamumu & Whangaroa Harbour

Whangamumu Harbour and exploration of an old whaling station. This afternoon we enjoy the dramatic scenery as we enter the remote Whangaroa Harbour. Board the Xplorer zodiacs to discover the delights of these secluded bays.

Day 5: Bay Of Islands

Enjoy a full day exploring and discovering this spectacular area. From the Hole in the Rock, Deep Water Cove, Urupukapuka, Roberton Island, Keri-Keri Inlet and more, the day promises a multitude of unforgettable experiences. This evening we enjoy the Captains Farewell Cocktails in the sheltered Harbour.

Day 6: Paihia

Farewell and disembarkation in Paihia. Self explore the township of Paihia before joining the complimentary Paihia - Auckland coach transfer departing at 1:30pm.
